2020 Little Ash Girl Cabernet Sauvignon

2020 was a warm vintage. Bud break and bloom occurred on historically average or slightly early timelines with some windy and rainy conditions at bloom contributing to smaller than average yields. Summer brought consistent warmth with some heat spikes, creating early ripening conditions. Significant smoke from distant Oregon and British Columbia wildfires created a filter from the blistering early September sun, which stalled ripening and extended hang time for our later ripening varietals. For Cabernet, the vintage can be characterized by small berry size, low yields, and ripe fruit expression.

Winemaker Notes

Vibrant garnet in the glass with a ruby rim, this 2020 Cabernet has initial aromas of black currant, mocha, fresh forest floor, and mountain huckleberry. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with velvety tannin, a kiss of acidity, and elegant balance. The long, silky finish demonstrates the dance of power and finesse woven with dark fruits, minerals, and cedar spice.
